NATALIE WELLS BAND
About Us

The Natalie Wells Band slowly began in early 2002, after Natalie had picked up playing the guitar (and quite quickly) not even a year before. She had been playing open mic nights around Cincinnati, OH and northern KY, when one day she was offered a gig by the owner of Sonny's All Blues Lounge. She threw together a band and started to work on learning enough songs to fill up an hour-long set.

Over the next couple of years -and many club and festival dates- Natalie was voted 'blues artist of the year' by the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards (in 2003) and has been nominated for the award a handful of other times. She has since had the opportunity to open for and share the stage with such artists as Magic Slim and the Teardrops, Big Brother and the Holding Company (Janis Joplin's old band), John Stephan, Little Ed and the Blues Imperials and Elvin Bishop. The band is also slated to open for Survivor and Devon Allman this summer.

Natalie is a passionate, aggressive, and gifted guitarist and with her trio, they have been making new fans in the tri-state region and across the United States as well. With their website and CD sales, they have also gained many new fans in Europe, Asia, Australia and Canada. She was even voted 'guitarist of the month' recently by a Swiss guitar magazine, and is endorsed by Godin Guitars.

The incredibly talented Mike Hodges joined the band in October of 2009. Mike was formerly the drummer in the band ‘Adrian', which featured none other than world-renowned guitar great Adrian Belew.

Mike has done several world tours with Adrian, and was also the drummer for David Bowie's 'Sound + Vision' world tour in 1990. Between those achievements, he also played in local bands such as Stagger Lee, Kelly Red and the Hammerheads and others. Mike was also an original member of the Raisins (with Ricky Nye, Bob Nyswonger and Rob Fetters). He is also endorsed by Mapex drums.

Bassist Marc Hoffman is a veteran of the Cincinnati music scene, having played with Cross Eyed Cat, the Warsaw Falcons and many other well known local bands. Marc most recently spent several years with blues great Sonny Moorman, as part of the Sonny Moorman Group. Marc is a phenomenal bass player and a respected member of the Cincinnati music scene.

The band plays a mixture of blues and rock material, and has been leaning toward the rock side of things more and more as time goes on. They play a mix of original and cover material by artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Rory Gallagher, Robin Trower, Black Sabbath, Gov’t Mule, etc. They plan to branch out musically even more over the coming months.

If you’re a fan of classic rock and blues, and a fan of instrumental prowess, check these guys out!
